This Intrepid II woodstove by Vermont Castings is one of the most energy-efficient
built, and uses a catalytic converter to maximize heat from combustion. It is installed
over flagstone and mortar, above Durock to protect the floor below. The exact points
where the four stove legs would hit the stone were marked and the stones were leveled
in only these four places. The woodstove was then placed as the stones were installed
to ensure it would be level even though the rocks are uneven for a natural appearance.

A Viking energy-efficient range with insulated ovens is installed in the kitchen area.

A natural bamboo floor called Plyboo, made by Smith & Fong, is installed in the upstairs
of the home. Bamboo is sustainably harvested and fast growing. (April 7, 2006)
